Eric Mutrie | Writer and editor

Eric Mutrie

I am a Toronto writer with 10 years of experience developing editorial content that captures the spirit of the moment. I have particular expertise writing about architecture, design, and culture.

After studying architecture in university, I developed a lasting enthusiasm for telling stories about the built environment. Over the course of my media career, I have interviewed industry titans like Frank Gehry, identified new talents and trends at international design fairs, and cast a spotlight on the social and sustainable changemakers who are moving the world forward.

I am currently a Senior Editor at Azure magazine, and my past roles have included positions as the Managing Editor of Sharp and Associate Editor of Designlines. As a freelancer, I have contributed to the Toronto Star, The Kit, Interior Design, Cottage Life, and Sotheby’s INSIGHT.

In addition, I have moderated panels at New York’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Toronto’s Architecture and Design Film Festival, and Toronto’s Interior Design Show. From 2018-2019, I volunteered as a tour guide for the Toronto Society of Architects.

I have also produced custom content and copywriting for many premium automotive, liquor, tech, and fashion brands, including BMW, Lexus, Glenlivet, Microsoft, and Harry Rosen.

I am available for select freelance editorial and copywriting assignments and can be reached at emutrie at gmail dot com.
